I wanted to be in contact with you concerning a charitable event in which I am a
participant and a fund-raiser. It is called Hoops for HOPE. I am going to play basketball
for twenty-four hours to raise money for Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE in Phnom
Penh, Cambodia (sihosp.org) and Hope Worldwide (hopeww.org).
The Sihanouk Hospital has seen over one million patients and gives free medical care to
the poor and needy. HOPE Worldwide’s vision is to bring hope and change the lives of
the world’s most poor, sick and suffering. All the money we receive will go towards the
hospital and HOPE Worldwide. Please visit the websites for more information.
We will be starting this event on Friday, April 14th 2017 at 8:00AM and ending on
Saturday, April 15th 2017 at 8:00AM. It will take place at UMASS Lowell. Forty-eight
participants will play basketball for twenty-four hours with a goal of raising forty-eight
thousand dollars for the Sihanouk Hospital and HOPE Worldwide.
We will have four teams of 12 players each. We will be playing two games
simultaneously throughout the event. Each team will play one game every hour. Each
game will be two 16-minute run time halves with a 5-minute halftime break and a 20-
minute break between each game. There is no sleeping allowed at the event. As you can
see, this is not your ordinary pick-up game.
I would like to ask if you would graciously support me in my efforts. I hope to raise as
much as possible for this charitable endeavor. I am asking donors to sponsor me for
$1.00 an hour, $2.00 an hour or $5.00 an hour. Any amount of donation, even less than a
dollar an hour or more than five dollars an hour, is deeply appreciated.
We have a website where it’s easy to donate. Go to (playforapurpose.org), click
on my name (insert name), hit the donate button and follow the instructions. If you
would like to donate by check, make it out to HOPEww-HSS-Cambodia Health Initiative
and send it to my address, which is below. All donations are tax deductible.
If you have any questions please contact me at (insert contact information). Thanks for
considering my request
